How do I book a session?
If you are a photographer, you can reach out to us directly via email or our contact page. We will go over your client needs and expectations and if it’s your first time working with us, we will arrange a 30 minute tour of the property and facilities prior to your session. If you are looking to book a session for yourself and you don’t have a photographer, we have a list of photographers and videographers that we have vetted and trust that we’re happy to refer.
How far in advance should I book?
We ask that you book a minimum of 7 days in advance. If you need something shorter notice, feel free to ask. We cannot guarantee that your preferences, dates, and times will be available.
What’s your cancellation/rescheduling policy?
A non-refundable retainer secures your date. Cancellations made less than 7 days out forfeit the full session fee; cancellations 7+ days before your session can be rescheduled once at no extra charge, based on availability.
What happens if it rains?
We’re an outdoor venue, so weather happens! If severe weather affects your outdoor session, we’ll work with you in good faith to reschedule at no penalty. Please just let us know as soon as you can. As of October 15th, our greenhouse The Lantern House will be available as a rain backup when arranged in advance.
Do you require a deposit?
A 30% deposit on the day you book. The remainder of your payment will be due the day of your session
Props & Backdrops:
Any props and backdrops you’d like to bring or use on-site need to be communicated at least 7 days prior to your session, giving us ample time to prepare the space.
Dressing Room & Restroom Access:
Every booking included access to our onsite dressing area and restroom throughout your reserved time.
Outfit Changes:
If you plan to do any outfit changes, please notify us in advance so that we can prepare the dressing room accordingly.
What’s included with a booking (props, specific areas of the property)?
Booking with us gives you access to the full property including but not limited to our barn (exterior), wood shed, meadow, woods, and creek as well as the changing area and bathroom. Please note that we have several new additions coming in the coming year and prices and availability are subject to change as they become available.
How many people can the space accommodate?
For our outdoor space, we are an 18 acre venue so we can accommodate large groups for photo sessions. Larger groups will need to be communicated ahead so that we can accommodate everyone for parking as well as bathroom and dressing room needs. For the Lantern House Greenhouse, this will need to be discussed and decided on a session by session basis.
Is there parking on-site?
We have limited parking on our road and a designated parking area on the property. We will require proper communication on the number of guests and vehicles we can expect ahead of time so we can properly prepare.
Are pets allowed?
Yes! We love including pets in sessions. Since we’re a working farm with livestock on the property, we do ask that pets stay leashed or otherwise under control at all times unless you’ve discussed off-leash time with us in advance. Please bring waste bags and clean up after your pet before you leave. We also ask that pets be kept a respectful distance from our livestock and animal areas for everyone’s safety and comfort… ours and theirs.
Are there any restricted areas on the property?
Yes. Your booking includes access to the general grounds: the meadow, wooded trail areas, creek access, and heritage farm exteriors as available for your session. Any area marked with a “No Access,” “Private,” or similar posted sign is strictly off-limits, including our family living quarters, work-in-progress construction areas, and any barns or outbuildings not designated for guest use. We ask that all posted signage be respected without exception, both for your safety and ours. Posted boundaries will be clearly marked, so if you’re ever unsure, just ask us before heading that direction.
I’m a photographer. Can photographers book the space for multiple client sessions in one day?
Absolutely! Whether you’re scheduling back-to-back individual client sessions or running a mini session day with several short client slots back-to-back, our hourly booking blocks (2-hour, 4-hour, or full-day) are built to accommodate that. Many photographers use our 4-hour or full-day rate to run a full mini session day, booking their own clients in tight time slots throughout your reserved window. Just let us know your general schedule and format when booking so we can make sure the space is set up and ready to go.
I Is there a difference in rate for professional photographers vs. personal family sessions?
Nope, our rates are the same either way! That said, we’d love for photographers to be the ones booking and bringing their clients out to us; it’s how we love to work and grow alongside the photography community. If a family reaches out wanting to book directly, that’s absolutely welcome as well. Just note that you will need to provide and book your own photographer or ask us for a trusted reference. Either way, you’ll pay the same posted rate.
How do you accept payment?
You’ll receive a secure link to pay by card for your deposit and your final installment.
Where are you located?
We’re located just outside of Halstead, Kansas. Exact directions and gate/parking instructions will be sent upon booking.
What is your Alcohol policy
Alcohol is allowed with advance written approval. Just let us know ahead of your session if this applies to you. All guests consuming alcohol must be of legal age, and we ask that it be enjoyed responsibly throughout your time on the property.
